DEFCON 1 - Multiple Job Losses Now Imminent
They might want to put a security detail outside of athletic department offices this week. They also might think about blocking incoming calls, specifically those from the Chancellor. A season which started with extremely high hopes, is now a game or two away from being beyond salvageable. Most reasonable Husker fans probably could have accepted a hard-fought, close-until-the-end loss to Missouri. Anything less than that would have been a little disappointing. A 5 touchdown blowout, in a game that Nebraska didn't even reach the endzone, is a completely unacceptable performance by anyone's standards. It shows that the ineptitude within this program goes beyond the defensive coaching staff. It shows a complete lack of preparation and mental toughness. I think it finally shows that Bill Callahan is a wholly inadequate college head football coach.
I hate to be the one to contribute to a movement which is detrimental to the immidate future program, but it is clear to me that this program needs significant change for the benefit of the long term. I believe this change needs to go beyond the head coach. In the firing of Frank Solich, Steve Pederson made blunder after blunder which could have only been forgotten by success on the football field. Instead, his past mistakes continue to be brought up after every Husker loss, which by my estimation is probably around 3 or 4 more times this season. Steve Pederson is a drag on the program and should be removed as soon as possible. A complete overhaul needs to happen very soon so that we can move beyond the mistakes of the current regime. It's called starting over for a reason. Pederson hiring a new coach would not be enough of a change.
Oh and recruits, please stay.
