Andre Jones done and fucked up

Aside from the fact that he gave USC more motivation with his stupid comment, he now has given the impression to the rest of the country that Nebraska is so high on itself that this game will be a cake walk. The media, particularly ESPN, is just running this thing into the ground. Sportscenter tonight again mentioned the comment and preceded to lecture Nebraska that LA Tech and Nich St. aren't in the same hemisphere as USC, as if we didn't know that. Who wants to bet that ESPN Gameday will make that comment into a huge story? Maybe it shouldn't matter what everyone else thinks, but any self-respecting Husker fan knows that this game is a loss unless we play a flawless game AND catch some breaks.

Believe me, I'm all happy for our players that they're going into this game with confidence, but can we do it with an ounce of humility? Something we'll need after the game.

I too am getting pretty damn fed up with the media bashing our schedule so far, and our past non-conference schedules in general. We scheduled USC, didn't we? In an article in the L.A. Times this week they took a shot at us, comparing who USC has recently scheduled for non-conference opponents to us. Maybe that's because we play Big XII competition and not the Pac-10.

I can't believe Jones said what he did. We really didn't need to give them an excuse to actually get motivated for this game. Another thing, he is the one position on the field that has the least room for trash talking.

As for the game itself, I'm tired of hearing how fast USC's defense is. I hope Cody Glenn gets plenty of carries in the first half to ram it down their fast throats. This of course mixed with a grab-bag of inexperience-exploiting west coast passing. I really have no reason to expect that we will be putting up a bunch of points on them, but I have confidence none the less. I think the bottom line is that we should expect USC to score no fewer than say, 35. We have to have an offensive explosion to win this game there's no secret. Just my opinion. That's why I'm going to try and not worry about our secondary and worry about our offense. USC is going to score big regardless of our secondary size and experience. I would have really liked to have thought going in that they weren't going to be motivated to play us. We can thank Andre for that.

Andre Jones is an idiot and not a real Husker. I guess I'm glad we have him, but what an assdumb. I hope he gets torched for a score on the first drive, of course I am hoping we will come back to win...

First of all, did anyone actually see the video of Jones's comments? His comments were more blown out of proportion than the actual size of the Donk. What was put in print sounded much worse than it actually was. It was actually refreshing to hear something other than the 30 stories i read about - "How are NU's small CBs going to match up against SCs huge receivers?" Plus, Im sticking with the theory, that any pub is good pub (for recruiting that is). Who cares what other fans think about us anyway?

I am also sick of hearing about our weak non-conference schedule. We, like most other big-time schools, schedule 1 or 2 pasties and then one big name school. In past years we have had Pitt, PSU, Iowa, ASU..... The bottom line is that big-time matchup games are scheduled years in advance. There is NO WAY you can predict how good your opponent is going to be in 5-10 years. For example, todays SC game was scheduled in 1997 when NU won a national championship and SC sucked more than Kenney on a greased up latino beef tube. For fucks sake, we have Tennessee scheduled over a decade out.

Hate to say it, but SC rolls today. SC 52, NU 27. But there's always next year.

We schedule pasties? What next, g-strings?

I have no problem with anyone ripping our schedule through 2 games. Those teams sucked. The Nicholls State game, alone, may have been the most pointless game Nebraska has ever played. I would have rather had a bye week. From what I am currently seeing it did nothing for us.
