Welcome, football

Well, before I start, in honor of Storo, I just want to say that I have no formal training in making predictions, anything that happens to be correct is pure talent.

First off, I assume everyone caught some of the 25-hours of college football starting last night, props to Rece Davis. Loved the idea. Anyway, here are a few highlights from the little bit of the show that I saw, in no particular order.

1. Larry Coker officially announced as part of the ESPN college football team. This guy looked like a corpse and spoke for literally 15 seconds.

2. Kirk Herbstreit picks Penn State as the favorite in the Big Ten...and it is generally ignored by every other person on the show. As if it were never said.

3. Mark Mangino, I believe the first BigXII coach to be featured on the program joined via telephone, which meant they had a still shot of him on the screen for five solid minutes with his jowels spilling over his collar.

4. Mangino's interview followed by BigXII North bashing from all sides, including Kirk declaring that there are five teams in the South that could come to the North and likely win it. He could have saved time by saying "everyone but Baylor."

5. Steve Spurrier makes an appearance on an UnderArmor commercial with one of his two lines being him answering his cell, "Head ball coach," I'm disappointed we didn't even get a "Click-Clack" out of him.

6. Mark May (and practically everyone else for that matter) picks Missouri to win the North, but is only able to mention Chase Daniels and their "stable" of tight ends. Sounds like last year. Apparently, if you have more than one talented tight end, you are immediately the favorite in your conference.

So, for predictions....

ACC - FSU
Big East - WVU
SEC - Florida
Big XII - Texas
Pac10 - USC
Big XI - Michigan

Bust Team : OU
Suprise Team: Notre Lame (5-6)

Huskers: 9-3 Wake, USC, Texas

National Championship: Texas over WVU

Coach fired due to another bad season: Gary Pinkel.

By the way, any suggestions or improvements for the 2007 version? If so go ahead and apply at your own risk of annihilating the html....

7 Days . . . please God don't let me die!

Here we are once again on the cusp of a new year 'o football. We're a year older perhaps wiser, or fired . . . later Coker and we have a new opportunity to predict the following year. Granted my pick of WVU and Auburn didn't work out as the Champeenship last year, but I did do quite well with my predictions of firings and collapses. Colorado did disappoint and achieved something i didn't even see as possible, losing to a lower division foe . . . Montana St god bless you. My 3 win prediction was just a little too much for Colorado to overcome. And finally My 2001 prediction of Coker being a coattail rider came true this past year with a huge one point victory over Nevada to finish off his career. We will have fond memories of the Cokester. From him winning 25 straight games to squandering one of the most talented teams in less than 5 years. Wow, I'm not for sure who did a worse coaching/recruiting job, Coker or Solich. Anyway on to the point at hand Predictions for the Year. I expect Every blogger to follow up with their predictions, just for bragging rights. Please follow my format which includes Conf Champions, Your Bust Team, Your Surprise Team, NEB pred, and Nat. Championship.

The Year of The Keller

Well, practice has begun and the first kickoff is quickly approaching. Thus, I think it's time to resurrect the blog. I can't think of a better time for a Husker's blog amid the new criminal element, recruiting news, and quarterback faux-controversy. Let's make Solich proud, Displaced Huskers. Also, let's welcome Joe Ganz's newest superior, Sam Keller.
